#PRISON BREAK SEASON 1 FINALE FULL#
Stupid Lawyer Lady takes full advantage of the element of surprise, declaring "Hello, Terrence." End scene. After walking through the house aimlessly, she luckily finds Steadman sitting down in a chair, dozing off. So, like an annoying character in a bad horror movie, Stupid Lawyer Lady walks into the house, and creeps around, unarmed (apparently a breaking and entering charge isn't a concern to her, nor is she expecting there to be anyone in the house that could hurt a scared and stupid lawyer lady). When Steadman leaves the room, she then assumes that the house has no security system and that there couldn't possibly be anyone else in the house besides this man she saw. Stupid Lawyer Lady then proceeds to the house we know Terrence Steadman is at, and her first plan of attack is to stare creepily through his window at him, in full sight. When he doesn't answer, she leaves a detailed, expository message, either intended for viewers who didn't pay attention last episode, or for the people who were controlling Nick, who would just be able to play back Nick's messages to find out where she currently is. After being threatened with a gun by fellow lawyer Nick, and being let go by him at the last minute, Stupid Lawyer Lady decides it's a good idea to give Nick a call. Let's start with the totally insane actions of Lincoln's lawyer, Veronica, hereafter referred to as Stupid Lawyer Lady, as my wife likes to call her. The truly disappointing points in the episode were the complete lapses in logic and realistic actions & reactions of every single character.
But the most disappointing aspects of the episode weren't that the inmates kept making mistakes and didn't make a clean break. After a season's worth of anticipation, everyone expected the break-out itself to be nothing short of amazing.
#PRISON BREAK SEASON 1 FINALE SERIES#
To say the escape is disappointing to fans of the series is a massive understatement. As police cars converge on the airfield and officers pile out, Michael reveals the last step of his genius plan: "We run!" The episode ends as the inmates run into a field, with numerous officers about 20 yards behind them. But they're too late, and the plane takes off. They eventually run onto the airfield, where they see the plane taxiing. Michael and the group run out of the barn, leaving T-Bag behind. The escapees run on, eventually finding a barn, where they make plenty of noise to get noticed (thanks to Abruzzi, an axe, and T-Bag's hand). The group finally looks under the hood to find that there isn't even an engine in the car. Sucre spends precious minutes trying to get the car hotwired, to no avail. Somehow they get down the extremely steep cliff to where a shell of a car is sitting. So the group now has to run on foot, which brings the group to a big cliff that none of them knew was there.
The group is unable to get to the airstrip due to the fact that they hung out in a ditch and gave the police time to set up a roadblock, so Michael's big idea is to drive around, which gets the van stuck in the mud. Next the plan was to madly run through woods to a hidden van, break out its taillights (one of the few really good ideas in this episode), and drive about 10 miles to a private airstrip. So what was genius Michael Schofield's big plan after they got out of prison? Apparently it was to wait right by the prison, in the ditch near a K-9 Unit truck, for at least twelve minutes, spoiling any lead time they had and the chance to get out before road blocks had been set up. And after twenty-one episodes of build-up, Schofield and his crew are finally over the prison wall and on the run in the season finale, " Flight." The thing that kept all viewers going along, accepting ongoing obstacles and delays, was the fact that ultimately the prison break-out was going to happen - it was promised to us in the very title of the show, let alone in the initial promos for the series. Michael's brother, Lincoln, is on death row, for allegedly committing a murder that's part of a vast government conspiracy, of a man who it turns out isn't really dead.
Prison Break is a show that required a suspension of disbelief from its beginning: Michael Schofield gets himself put into the same prison as his brother, and has the facility's blueprints tattooed onto his body.
